The Supernova was designed prior to the war to counter the Republic's fleet of Dreadnaught Battlecruisers and proved effective for this task. It is known that the presence of a Guardian Battleship is a sure sign of a major deployment.Įarly in the clone wars the backbone of the Black Empire and Hutt Armadas was the Supernova Heavy Cruiser. The Guardian Battleship has famously become the backbone of the Black Empire's Fleet and the Hutt Empire's Armada. Here cluster the powerful ion engines behind, the columns of shield generators around a raised bridge, and blast doors facing forward on the raised portion below. The symmetry of the disc is interrupted only by a rectangular portion of the vessel raised out of the aft. Thrusting out from the trench every twenty degrees stands a turbolaser battery. Around the circumference of the vessel the upper plating and the lower plating meet in a deep trench. Equally spaced around the underside, enormous spherical repulsor-generators just peek their rounded undersides through the heavy armor plating.
The underside is less rounded, more conical in shape, and in the center a circular hole opens upward into a shielded docking bay, flanked with several tractor beam emitters. The top of this vessel is a shallow dome cluttered with countless tiny view ports, lit from within. This is a massive disk of durasteel plating, four hundred meters in circumference and one hundred meters tall.
